Seveth in the series, Pipe Bags - Tobacco Bags Of The American Frontier by John Baldwin. This book was originally planned to be part of the 'Pipe Bag' book. It became too bog and significant enough to stand-alone. It was an 8-year intense study from conception to published title. Each chapter features a different type of art style of Indian smoking pipe with a feature being pipes make from red Catlinite. As with all of our books we have crammed all color pages with multiple examples. The over 130 vintage photos of Indians holding their pipes establishes a strong reference to what was actually being worn and used at the time of photo. Two of the outstanding features in this book are the pictured carved effigy pipes and the Chapter and informational reference to the source of the 'red pipe' material, the pipe stone quarry. Historical, informational, educational regarding one of the most recognized artifacts of from the American frontier.
